Our Place

Oaktree Kindergarten is nestled in Browns Bay, surrounded by a wonderful network of local primary schools. We are a welcoming, community‑focused public kindergarten with a fully qualified teaching team dedicated to providing high‑quality early learning for children aged 3–5. Our doors are always open — we love having whānau pop in, meet our kaiako, and get a feel for our space. With strong connections across our community and a truly inclusive atmosphere, Oaktree Kindergarten is a place where children and their families feel supported, valued, and at home from the moment they arrive.

About us

At Oaktree Kindergarten, relationships are at the centre of everything we do. We work alongside children and their whānau to foster confidence, competence, and a love of lifelong learning. Our aspiration is that every child leaves us ready to embrace their next learning journey with curiosity, resilience, and joy. Well known in our community for our quality service and welcoming approach, we value diversity and celebrate the cultures that make up our kindergarten whānau.

Our philosophy

Our practice is grounded in the principles of Te Whāriki, Aotearoa’s Early Childhood Curriculum, and strengthened by our commitment to Enviroschools and education for sustainability. We offer a beautiful, joyful, play‑based environment that nurtures discovery, wonder, exploration, and connection. Our admired outdoor area provides natural challenges, space to move, and opportunities for deep learning. Across both the indoor and outdoor environments, we reflect the uniqueness of Aotearoa New Zealand through a bicultural curriculum that embraces the richness of our multicultural community.
